Oyster Gardens

Did you know one mature oyster can filter 50 gallons of water a day?

That is why it is our goal to plant 225,000 of them this summer! We want to restore the ecosystem and filter the water of nitrogen pollution that is harming our bay. Oysters we are growing are not for consumption.

Help us maintain our Oyster Gardens by taking oyster filled milk crates out of the water, hosing them down, counting a selection of the baby oysters (spat on shell) & measuring them. Then, returning the crates to the water. Volunteers do NOT go in the water. You can come for one day or everyday, it’s up to you!
