Gareth Burghes is a former student in marine biology at Stony Brook University turned film maker. Through Lagomorph Films, the production company he founded, Gareth is winning spots at various film festivals with his “Filtering Futures: A Story of Long Island and Shellfish.” We hope and expect that Gareth’s film is seen a lot this summer all over Long Island and at various local showings. Save The Great South Bay applauds his work. DIY film making is the future of environmentalism. Local communities need to be able to tell their stories, document the local threats to the environment and their solutions. Scientists need to get their messages beyond the 100 in a lecture hall, and reach millions.
