The Governor, The NYS DEC, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone, and of course all the LI eco-nonprofits in The Long Island Clean Water Partnership, led by The Citizen’s Campaign For The Environment and The Nature Conservancy. Mark your calendars — a series of public meetings are set for May and June.
When the alarm sounded, New York not only listened, but decided to take on the enormous problem of waste water and nitrogen pollution head on. This would all have been unimaginable a year ago.
Long Island, where DDT was first banned, and home to Teddy Roosevelt, has the opportunity to once again make environmental history. All are determined to apply the latest science to address the threat of nitrogen pollution in our groundwater and in our rivers, ponds and bays, and with that bring them back.
