Having a Bay Friendly Yard is one way you can help save the Great South Bay.
Start by “leaving the leaves”, says Frank Piccininni, Director of Habitat Restoration at Save The Great South Bay.
Here are a few reasons to leave your rake in the shed:
  1. Leaves benefit wildlife and the environment.
  2. According to the EPA, leaves and other yard debris account for more than 13% of the nation’s solid waste.
  3. Leaves are a natural habitat for insects and wildlife.
  4. Leaves provide a natural mulch and fertilizer

So put down that rake and leave the leaves!
