Your support is needed to continue our important programs to protect and preserve the Great South Bay.
It has been an incredibly tough year for many and we hope you are adapting well. While we’ve been working remotely, we’ve not stopped our efforts to protect and preserve the Great South Bay.Â
We cannot do this important work without your support. Your donation enables these and other programs to protect and preserve the Great South Bay:
Creek Defender Program
Working together with municipalities, local organizations, schools, elected officials and others, we patrol, identify areas in need, and clean up along the 50 creeks and rivers leading into the Great South Bay, ensuring healthier waters enter the Bay.
Oyster Habitat Restoration
Our GSB Oyster Project will restore the oyster habitat to the Great South Bay promoting local aquaculture and a natural filtration system that will help keep the Bay clean. Our goal is to plant 100 million oysters over the next five years.
Bay Friendly Habitat Restoration
We promote native habitat restoration through planting of native species, stormwater management and the utilization of eco-friendly maintenance techniques with the end goal of improving the quality of water that enters the Bay.
Please help ensure that we can continue these efforts to advocate for a cleaner, healthier Great South Bay by making a donation to our organization by December 15th. Your support will allow us to continue our important programs to protect and preserve our waters. We promise to make your donation count. The future of Long Island depends on the health of our beautiful Bay.

Thank you Steven. Oysters eat murky water for lunch & aquaculture is an essential component to our shellfish restoration efforts. #bluepointoysters
I am an Oyster Farmer and my oysters are harvested in the Great South Bay. I think that this is a wonderful organization and I am happy to contribute .

Even though I now live far away I still love the Great South Bay. I have many fond memories from the 70s and 80s of fishing, swimming and water skiing, but I know it has a lot of pollution and wildlife problems. I’m donating for my family members who still live in Suffolk County
I mailing a check for $50 = $20 for my Certified Bay Friendly Yard sign + $30 donation to STGSB. Very excited about 2021 and continuing our work. All the best, Andy

Hi Save the GSB team! My beautiful Fiance I are getting married on June 12th and in lieu of giving our guests party favors we would like to donate to your amazing organization! After working with Robyn, Todd & Marshall on the Mayor’s Cup Charity Regatta at the Long Island Yacht Club in 2019 I know this money is going to a great cause and is something that we feel strongly about supporting. Keep up the great work and hope to catch up with you all soon!
My business Paumanok Veterinary hospital is actually the donor. I would like to set this up monthly at least until December 2022 but I did not see a way to do this on your web site.
I saw your organization on the George to the Rescue page. My family was rescued and I would like to pay it forward . I love oysters and appreciate the work to keep them around and edible. Also I am a Verizon employee, they will email you with instructions and match my donation one to one……all the best Chris Payne
Thank you Christopher!

My family and I are making this donation in memory of my uncle, Robert F. O’Mack, who passed away on September 11, 2021. Uncle Bobby lived his entire life on Long Island and was an avid fisherman of the Great South Bay.
We are sorry for your loss Scott & thank you for your donation to our organization in Uncle Bobby’s memory.
Grew up on the GSB. Miss it.

Over the summer I created some custom Koozies with the slogan “Coveit-21” as a play on words regarding Covid-19. This donation is from the proceeds of selling said Koozies. One of my favorite places to be in the summer is anchored up with friends in Garbage Cove on Saturday afternoons. The only real semblance of normalcy during the pandemic was weekend afternoons in the cove with restaurants and bars closed on Long Island. Unfortunately, with every trip around the sun I’ve made these past 27 years, I’ve watched the bay deteriorate from pollution. Although I try to do my own part by picking up trash when I see it, I figured this was a noble cause to raise money for. The Great South Bay will always have a very special place in my heart. All I can hope for is that one day my children will be able to enjoy the same luxury of it that I was so fortunate to have. The saying goes there’s no place like home, but in my mind, there’s really no place like the cove. Happy holidays.
In loving memory of Bob Rickard.
