Our efforts are part of Save The Great South Bay’s Creek Defender Program. The premise is that by cleaning one of Sayville’s three creeks, we clean The Great South Bay.  Last year the Greater Sayville Civic cleaned Greenes Creek. This year Save the Great South Bay is leading the Mill Pond clean-up.
It is apparent that the bright green growth in the pictures is an unnatural hue of green that does not match the other vegetation. Anyone who has spent a lifetime driving by Mill Pond knows we have a problem.  We sampled the waters of Mill Pond during our scouting. We will share our findings in the future.
