The Long Island Natural History Conference – March 20th-21st at Brookhaven National Lab

March 20, 2015 @ 8:00 am - March 21, 2015 @ 5:00 pm

Save The Great South Bay is a proud platinum sponsor of The 2015 Long Island Natural History Conference, to be held at Brookhaven National Laboratory Friday March 20th through Saturday March 21st, with a Sunday sealwalk to close things out.

Cost:  $30 per day or $40 for two, with the three field trips also requiring registration, which can be done here at Long Island Nature Organization.

I’d particularly recommend that people hear Prof. Gobler’s talk on Friday, 9:10 AM to kick things off.   Entitled “The Effects of Excessive Nitrogen Loading on Long Island’s Coastal Ecosystems,” it will provide a devastating diagnosis as to why our marshes, bays and ponds are all sick, and what large scale efforts it will require to reverse the situation.

This conference is just further proof that Long Islanders are increasingly standing up for their environment, trying to preserve, restore, revitalize a beautiful part of the world before its last traces disappear.
