On Saturday May 4th, Save The Great South Bay joined Seatuck, The First Baptist Church of Bayshore, The Bayshore High School Interact Club, and representatives from Keep Islip Clean, Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and County Legislator Steve Flotteron in the annual clean up of Penataquit Creek in Bayshore.

Enrico Nardone, Executive Director of Seatuck Environmental Association, discussed how the glacier (and its melting) created the system of ground fed streams we find on Long Island’s South Shore today, including the Penataquit:

There’s much more video / photos to come on the clean up! Such dedicated people from the community coming out to volunteer even in wet weather! I was very inspiring! Congratulations, Tom, on his first stint as Creek Defender, and again a thanks to all our environmentalist brethren in Bayshore and in Islip who hove worked so hard these last several years working to heal this creek!
