Susan Brown’s Great South Bay, Fire Island and Long Island Paintings

Susan Brown is a local Sayville artist. Diagnosed as autistic, Susan didn’t speak much before age 8. That was when she began to draw and paint. Now, at almost 57, she has created quite a body of work. For the last ten years, she has been an artist in residence at Pure Vision Arts, a gallery in Chelsea that is dedicated to nurturing artists with special needs. Susan’s works are featured at the annual Outsider Arts Fair, and are shown regularly at galleries in New York and Aboard. Her bio from Pure Vision Arts is here.

Here is a slide show of some of her LI, bay, and beach themed works:

Here are the remaining paintings from this series:

Her works are also being featured by Save The Great South Bay on tote bags and tee shirts with printing and fulfillment provided by Spectrum Designs, a Port Washington based non-profit that hires people on the autistic spectrum.   We will be adding more items from the gallery below, and as Susan continues to paint local GSB, Fire Island, and Long Island scenes. Proceeds go to supporting the artist and Save The Great South Bay, and employing the autistic.
