On September 19th, 2024, Bay Shore High School High School’s Living Environment students in collaboration with Bay Shore HIgh School’s science research class, worked alongside Saving the Great South Bay’s Ed Ragan, to conduct science research for “A Day in the Life of a River” program through Brookhaven National Laboratory. Lead by teachers Erin Garland, Caitlin Green, Josmara Nunez and Isabella Iadiccio, students conducted mindfulness exercise as well soil, water quality tests of the Great South Bay. Students seined and identified many of the common marine organisms that sustain a healthy environment. Students will return in the spring to study seasonal changes.
